PROGRAM:

HOPKINS  And the Valse Goes On

HAYDN Violoncello Concerto in C

PIAZZOLA/PORAT  Oblivion

HAYDN  Symphony No. 44

Internationally recognized violoncellist Garik Terzian performs the Haydn Violoncello Concerto in C, − a work many had called “[his] great contribution to the Violoncello solo repertory.”  The program will close with Haydn’s E Minor Symphony, No. 44 – a masterpiece of motion and emotion, and a vibrant work that contributed to Haydn’s musical immortality well beyond Vienna. And the Valse Goes On…, composed by Sir Anthony Hopkins, in a newly minted edition by Ami Porat, crafted for a chamber orchestra setting, is the program opener. The hauntingly beautiful Oblivion by Piazzolla, written as a tribute to his late father, opens the second half.
