Dance is an art form of superior and unique essence, which can inspire deep emotional responses among both its viewers and practitioners. A dancer’s instrument is the body, making it a truly universal form that is available to all viewers, regardless of nationality or language. Through its diverse and eclectic forms, dance appeals as mass entertainment and as high art, and all gradations in between.

The Barclay is one of the region’s leading presenters of international and American professional dance. Its 20-year history includes showcasing popular, folkloric, world and cutting-edge contemporary concert dance.

In addition, the Barclay is home to some of the area’s prominent local dance companies that perform a wide variety of dance from ballet to contemporary and dance traditions from various world cultures.
