Ami Porat, Artistic Director and Conductor

Limor Toren, violinist and Matt Hare, contrabassist

PROGRAM:

MOZART    Allegro from K. 137

BOTTESINI  Gran Duo for Violin & Bass

BARTOK  Transylvanian Dances

C. P. E. BACH Sinfonia in E

ROSSINI  Sonata No. 5

A gem, written when Mozart was 16, serves as the opener to this eclectic program,  followed by an unusual solo work: the Gran Duo Concertante for Violin  and  Contrabass by Bottesini. Principal Matt Hare and Concertmaster Limor Toren are featured soloists. The Transylvanian Dances by Bartok  adorn the end of the first half. A surprisingly “modern-sounding” C.P.E. Bach Sinfonia and String Sonata No. 5 comprise the second half.  Rossini’s “voice” is clearly heard despite being only thirteen at the time.
