Hyundai Motor America and the CCKS at UCI Present MFBTY (Tiger JK, Yoonmirae, BIZZY), and more
Music
Presented by Hyundai Motor America and the CCKS at UCI
Monday, October 7, 2019

Experience a night of Korean hip-hop that is sweeping through the globe right now! Get daringly close to Tiger JK and his project group MFBTY, which stands for My Fans are Better Than Yours.  MFBTY, which also includes Afro-Korean female artist YoonMirae and Korean New Zealander Bizzy, will rock the Barclay stage harder than any act that has come across the UCI campus.

Tiger JK is a South Korean rapper who has attained iconic status in Korean hip-hop and is often credited with bringing the genre of hip-hop into K-pop. Widely known for his mentor role for BTS’ leader RM, Tiger JK has recently served as one of the producers of the highly successful rap audition program Show Me the Money Season 6. The Los Angeles Times referred to him as “perhaps the most popular Korean rapper in America, Asia, and the world.”

Tiger JK has built a career that has represented Korea without pandering to stereotypes about soft K-pop or Asian minorities in America. His creative spirits are poured over the entirety of his 10-album recording career—the latest being Drunken Tiger X: Rebirth of Tiger JK. He has collaborated and performed with just about every who’s who of music in Korea including BTS, Seo Tae-ji, and Yoon Do-hyun.

Tiger JK’s cultural background and connections to Southern California run deep. He is a graduate of Beverly Hills High School and earned his B.A. from UCLA’s Creative Writing program before returning to Korea to establish his legendary 20-year career in rap. He will also be joined on stage by his wife and R&B singer/rapper YoonMirae, who is well-known for her dynamic stage performances and candid reality-television personality in Korea.
